    BK Medical is looking for a Cost Accounting Principal to support our growing organization. This individual will be responsible for all aspects of cost and inventory accounting, providing the leadership and finance teams with analytical and strategic insights. The ideal candidate will possess the ability obtain a deep understanding of all manufacturing costs and drive improvements, while working in a matrixed organization.

    Qualifications

    • Bachelor’s Degree (or higher) in Accounting or related field
    • Minimum of 5 years of Cost Accounting in a Manufacturing environment, with preference to understand inputs to accurate standard costing and variance analysis
    • SAP proficiency preferred; significant ERP exposure is required
    • Hyperion skills preferred; significant report development tool required
    • Advanced Excel skills are critical, as well as other MS Office products including Outlook and PowerPoint
    • Technical acumen, creative thinking, problem-solving and analytical skills.
    • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with abilities to both summarize information to management, as well as drill into details with peers and functional teams
    • Foster a culture of transparency, collaboration, continuous improvement and empowering functional teams
    • Strong organizational and time management skills in a fast-paced environment
    • Ability to handle confidential information with appropriate sensitivity to the audience
    • Ability to drive efforts within a matrixed organization, with limited supervision
    • Required travel 10-15% to BK affiliates, usually averaging one week per quarter
    • Ability and willingness to participate in periodic, additional travel in support of supply chain efforts is a plus

    Responsibilities

    • Leads our global cost accounting efforts, including inventory reconciliations, standard cost reviews/updates, analysis of manufacturing variances and reviews/adjustments to inventory (E&O) and warranty reserves
    • Develops and improves existing inventory and COGS accounting processes
    • Generates accurate periodic financial reports to provide visibility into our expected and actual costs of goods sold and inventory levels; Support the month end close by completing relevant procedures on time and with proper disclosures to controllers
    • Organizes/schedules efforts and oversees periodic standard cost rolls and analysis
    • Owns the annual budgeting and periodic forecasting of COGS, including labor and burden rates, manufacturing variances and inventory/warranty reserves
    • Interface with process and product development engineers to project standard COGS for new products and perform periodic review of current products against prior cost estimates and standard costs
    • Oversee local and remote inventory accuracy programs whether cycle counts or annual physicals, in cooperation with the operations and accounting teams; oversee communications with external auditors
    • Understand BOMs and work order processes, reviewing work orders for completion
    • Support annual audit work, with ownership of COGS, inventory and reserves
    • Develops standard costs for labor, material and overhead rates for use in product costing and inventory valuation; Assist operations in budgeting and managing absorption
    • Oversees the ERP/cost system making sure the system is reliable and properly utilized for costing of inventory; Suggest and assist with implementation of improvements
    • Reviews bills of materials for accuracy and works with documentation control to monitor changes brought on by engineering and/or product release/termination
    • Analyzes material variances and prepares/published relevant metrics at regular intervals
    • Guides/mentors the monitoring and improvement efforts of local and remote activities that impact COGS and inventory control/planning
    • Contributes to contract review, strategic purchasing/supply chain management (supplier development & scorecards, dual sourcing efforts)
    • Contributes to efficient engineering change process by helping anticipate and interpret product and process changes being implemented or considered
    • Other projects and duties as assigned
